RAINN dance
There is something quiet in being the assaulted. Your world shrinks and your heart encapsulates itself in a brick wall of the spoiled. Spoiled goods, bruised fruit.
It takes years. Years to look at your body and not feel sick. Years to replace the value you once had in yourself. Years to awaken in the truth that it is not your fault. But years can be shortened. Truth can be found on the fast track, when you can get help.
Help someone find help, help someone gain years. Help someone. April is Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Month. Every penny counts.
Help me be a RAINNmaker.

dearest girl, dearest woman, your story, what happened to you, gives me tears and chills, and takes my breath away. it is terrible, just terrible to have been hurt so deeply at such a young age, but thank god, you are a survivor, thank god, you are alive, just thank god. and i will always remember what you have said here, and i will be blessed by knowing the goodness, kindness, spirit, beauty and brilliance that is you and that is expressed in such a true voice for the sake of other’s lives and well-being, in the doing of what you need to do. with gratitude, and love

You help in more ways than you can possibly imagine. Surviving is about more than just going through the motions … getting through each day … it is also about pointing the way forward to other survivors who need to know that there is hope … that life can hold joy again. Such help is invaluable.

You are incredible.
The loneliness and guilt victims pile on themselves is so alienating and heavy.
You would be a great RAINNmaker.
You make me smile.

I had the pleasure of donating last year when you blogged about this, and am grateful for the opportunity to do so again. Keep spreading the word . . .

I often wonder why we don’t help each other more. Going to look…

Flutter,
Your words, your story mean so much to so many. The children I work with, who are victims of sexual abuse, need to be listened to and heard. The women, I know who have been victims, is far too high, and it continues. Speaking out and keeping the awareness there, is critical. Thank you, from a deep personal level and on a professional one.

You are so right. This is my first time here (came over via your brilliant comment on Meno’s blog). I gained life-changing insights in therapy for my childhood sexual abuse, and I have shared it over the years with others, to help them gain years. That can only happen when we speak out. Thanks.

I remember very distinctly seeing Tori Amos in concert, and her mentioning RAINN and the work they do before performing Me and a Gun. Whatever you do, you have my support.
